Malegaon MLA Shaikh Asif held for demanding permission to Slaughter Jersey bull

Shaikh Asif (Present MLA of Malegaon)

Malegaon MLA Asif Shaikh and his several followers were held for breaching of cow slaughter law. Yesterday they were arrested by the Malegaon SP Sunil Kadasne for blocking highway and demanding permission to Slaughter Jersey Bulls. According to them slaughtering of Jersey bull is not mentioned in the Maharashtra Animal Prevention (Amendment) Act 1995.
Howerver, The Malegaon police led by additional superintendent of police Sunil Kadasne,  arrested Mr Shaikh and his supporters. They were produced in front of the Malegaon tehsildar, who released them after taking personal bonds. Mr Kadasne said that that he had personally gone to Mr Shaikh’s house and tried to reason with him.
“I told him that being an MLA, this stance was improper because the law was already in force. He can raise the issue in the Legislature or go to the courts. However, staging road blockades or morchas will create law and order problems and so we arrested him,” Mr Kadasne said.
